Jordanhill Park - Solus Range and Facing Bricks

Overview

Jordanhill Park is a new multi-phase masterplan in Glasgow that aims to provide the area with over 400 homes by the end of 2024. The development has an ideal West End location, providing residents with the best of both city and country living.

The ‘Oak Collection’ is part of the initial phase and was completed using our exclusive Carsington Cream facing brick, alongside a number of other buff-coloured bricks. Taylor Maxwell worked closely with architects 7N and housing developer Cala Homes to specify and supply a large range of facing bricks used across all phases of the development.

Concept to completion

The overall masterplan design aimed to maintain the Edwardian style of the former buildings occupying the site, combining it with a modern approach to create luxury contemporary homes in the historic parkland. The collection of homes was designed to provide options to suit every requirement, with a luxury specification both internally and externally.

The architects focused on using tones, grains and textures across their designs, to create new buildings that complemented the surrounding architecture and mature landscape. With this concept in mind, our brick specialists worked with 7N to select the most suitable facing bricks to bring their design to life. The Carsington Cream brick from our solus range was selected for its creased texture and cream multi finish, to help the new buildings blend smoothly into the parkland landscape. The bricks were installed as projecting headers on the side elevations and vertically on the top course of the townhouses to create unique eye-catching features on the large development.

The multi-million-pound project began with the demolition of 19 buildings across the 31-acre plot. The site, formerly the Jordanhill College Campus, was then prepared for construction by Soil Engineering. Once the area was ready, the main contractors turned their focus to the restoration and refurbishment of the three remaining historic buildings and the construction of new build houses and apartment blocks. The ‘Oak Collection’ features 17 four and five- bedroom townhouses and a large number of apartments in the ‘Walled Garden’.

As part of the development, new green landscapes, public paths, cycle ways and children’s play areas were built, allowing residents and the public to roam freely and enjoy the new neighbourhood. Its location provides residents with plenty of urban attractions, transport links within walking distance and proximity to major road networks for a short commute to Glasgow’s city centre.
